Wistar, Ben Franklin Technology Partners teaming up to help develop startups
The Wistar Institute and Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania signed a Memorandum of Understanding Friday to work together to accelerate the advancement of early-stage life sciences start-ups coming out of Wistar.
Under the partnership, Ben Franklin and Wistar will be developing a mentoring program around technology development for both translational scientists and entrepreneurs. The program, which will operate out of Wistar in West Philadelphia, will be called “Ben-In-Residence.” It will feature Ben Franklin representatives who will provide support and guidance on technology commercialization, with the potential to fund Wistar start-ups.
“The Wistar and Ben Franklin collaboration brings together exceptional science, future product opportunities, talent and seed funding to ignite entrepreneurialism in our life sciences community,” said Heather Steinman, vice president for business development and executive director of technology transfer at Wistar.
