This Tech CEO Raised a $1M Seed Round While Treating Covid-19 patients, and Relying on Her Own Product

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in Philadelphia, tech entrepreneur Dr. Subha Airan-Javiaspent weeks taking care of recovering Covid-19 patients at a local long-term acute care facility.

Not only did she and her fellow clinicians rely on the product she created, in-patient workflow management app TrekIT Health, she was also busy raising a $1 million seed round at the same time.

Airan-Javia, now back to overseeing TrekIT full-time, said the new funding will help the company grow sales and marketing efforts to get its product into the hands of other health systems across the country as the pandemic continues.

“It’s not an easy time to close a round, but Covid has shown how hospitals need tools like TrekIT even more,” she said.

TrekIT’s seed round was led by Tech Council Ventures, the venture arm of TechUnited:NJ. The group was previously called the NJ Tech Council. (TechUnited:NJ’s role in New Jersey is similar to the one PACT, the Philadelphia Alliance of Capital and Technologies, plays in Philadelphia and its suburbs.) Boston Millenia Partners Founders Fund and Front Row Fund also invested in the company for the first time in its new round.

TrekIT’s platform — currently used in more than 150 clinical settings by over 5,000 users — is designed to tie together all of a patient’s health data together with clinician communications, documents and data analytics in one place.
