The PHL Innovation Picnic is Back!

Last year’s PHL Innovation Picnic attracted a diverse group of nearly 900 people from the area’s tech scene, including entrepreneurs, investors, community builders, and tech leaders to our front lawn, and this year we expect more! And while food and fun are enough of a motivator to purchase tickets, there are many more reasons you should be a part of this year’s PHL Innovation Picnic.

Without support from our sponsors, this event wouldn’t be possible. Their involvement sustains our unified mission to assemble our networks and build a stronger community. Partners like Broadpath PR, Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs, Drexel Ventures, First Round Capital, Janney, Fox Rothschild LLP, Osage Venture Partners, Penji, PIDC, The Navy Yard, Urban Outfitters, Inc., and WeWork validate that unified mission with their support. Contributors like Chariot Solutions, IPR Secure, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLPMVM Associates, NextFab, REC Philly, Rittenhouse Ventures, Robin Hood VenturesSaul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP., and University City Science Center advocate for the event in attendance and presence. All in, this makes a firm statement not only about our community’s growth but its shared pride in showing it.

Organizations like Startup PHL, Venture For America, and Waterfront Ventures have been a welcomed new addition to the committees that coordinate the picnic, while organizations like Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT), Philly New Tech Meetup, Philly Startup Leaders (PSL), PIDC, University City Science Center and Ben Franklin have brought new ideas to build upon last year’s festivities. While a kitchen can have too many cooks, that doesn’t apply to picnics! The larger group of organizers and coordinators has expanded our outreach in a powerful way and is making a great event even better.

In backing the community, we must be thinking about future generations of entrepreneurs, investors, community builders, and tech leaders. Support for the organizations doing this important work is key to the Picnic’s purpose. This year’s local nonprofits supporting skills-based, hands-on educational opportunities for area youth, include:

  •    Coded by Kids provides computer science education programs to children between the ages of 5 and 18 years old. Their educational philosophy emphasizes project-based learning and mentorship, enabling students to develop meaningful projects while interacting with experienced industry professionals.
  •    Hopeworks ‘N Camden is a youth development organization in Camden, NJ which trains youth in web development, GIS, and Salesforce, in addition to helping them get their GED, go to college and get a job.
  •    Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) activates the entrepreneurial mindset and builds startup skills in youth from under-resourced communities to ensure their success and to create a more vibrant society.

Every ticket purchased will support these nonprofits and their work to build the next generation of leaders in our industries. Join us and region’s incredible tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem with fun, food, and comradery! Buy your tickets today and make a statement using the #PHLpicnic.
